The Capitol Free-mo Modelers attended the Great Scale Model Train Show at the State Fair Grounds in Timinoum, MD on Saturday and Sunday, February 4 & 5, 2012. Nine members attended during the two days.
The modules that were there included: "Boston Street", a car ferry module by Dan Picciotto; a new, un-named module by first-timer David Ruggles; "Forest Hills", Dave Beckstein's curved scenery module; "Clarence, Ill.", a straight module being built by Clarence Guenther; a shortened, two-section "DAC Siding", a passing track module by Larry Case; and "Woodstown Jct", a three-section yard/junction module by Mike McNamara.
We had about 32 feet of mainline from end to end. We could have had another nine feet of mods if we had a few more curves in order to have used the space more efficiently. So if anyone wants to construct some new modules - think CURVES, CURVES, CURVES...
Our next time together will be in Timoniun, Maryland at the
Great Scale Model Train Show
on Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15, 2012. We will be set up in the Cow Palace at the State Fair grounds. We invite all to come and see us.
The Capitol Free-mo Modelers is an open group of model railroaders who construct, operate and display an HO scale Free-mo modular model railroad at locations in and around the Washington, DC area.
The group is a free form group, as there are no elected positions, no dues, and no club property. Each member purchases the needed materials and builds their module according to their interests using the Free-Mo standards. We will work to make group purchases as able, but costs will be shared.
Our modules conform to the Free-mo standards. Free-mo modules are "free" to take on many shapes and sizes, and they emphasize prototypical operations and realistic scenery and we strive for high levels of accuracy in each module.
